It was a nice revelation that Denavolo is a side project of Giulio Armani, oenologist of La Stoppa. Hence big expectations from this wine, considering my love for La Stoppa Ageno 2015. First thing you get - massive brett attack (in a bad way). So let it breathe for some time. But even then brett, IPA, dried herbs, apples, hints of honey. Despite the long maceration on the skin (AFAIK around 6 months), it doesn't feel like over-tannic, but rather medium or medium-high, with sour acidity. Long finish, apple flavours. Definitely memorable wine. People say that it should rest in the bottle for some time. I agree and wonder how it will perform in few months or even a year.
Denavolo
When Giulio Armani is not busy with La Stoppa, he produces his own wine - Denavolo (macerated for 6 months), Denavolino (similar to Denavolo, but grapes are from lower altitude) and Catavela (macerated from 7 days). His wines are comparable to famous La Stoppa Ageno 2015.
