Some would argue that it's not a good idea to put this 'no name' wine between some great Champagne wines. Yet all wines were served blind, and I am happy to experiment. Besides, this wine is so friendly and well made that it was received too well in the end (with an average score of 4.02). Good fruits, citrus, flowers and bakery - a lovely combination. Add a creamy palate with higher sugar content - and you'll get some pleasant bubbles, despite a rather short aftertaste.
I tasted this wine several times, but somehow I missed the elephant in the room. Yeast! Raw dough, freshly baked bread - I consider them to be a great canvas for citrus, flowers and creamy notes. Really nice bubbles for a good price.
I love this kind of surprise. You take a bottle with zero expectations, but it turns out to be a rather good wine. Crème brûlée, citrus, flowers, and apples (or quinces?). It lacks acidity, but overall it is well-balanced and delicious with good creaminess.
