Pinot Noir Blind Tasting #1. Pale colour. Reductive nose, pickles, sour red fruits, cranberry. Lifted acidity, lacks balance. Flavours of red berries and leather. Feels fading. Guessed without tasting it - Enderle&Moll Liaison 2016. And this is where my 'luck' ends. Black sheep of the evening.
I have mixed feelings about Liaison 2016. On one hand it was pretty simple and obscure. Maybe even fading. On the other hand, it is well made and interesting. So anyways, strawberry, fennel and field flowers. Medium-light, elegant with good tannins and medium finish. Flavours of fennel, cherry and acetone (VA!). So it gets my 3.8 and confusion award :D Going to explore more wines by Enderle & Moll.
Enderle&Moll
Small German winery from Baden founded in 2006 by two wine college graduates Sven Enderle and Florian Moll. They were fortunate enough to get their hands on some pretty old plots of Pinot Noir sites (planted in 1953). They follow a philosophy of Low Intervention and Sustainable Vineyard Management.
Enderle and Moll are considered to be a cult even by Jancis Robinson. Some consider them the best Pinot Noir producers in Germany. I lack qualification and experience to support this claim, so I am going to challenge it through tasting.
