After a series of Matassa '21, I opted for a distinctive closer, bypassing Champagne for a preference towards sweet/digestive finishes. Realising many attendees hadn't experienced H&H Boal 2000, the choice became clear. My admiration for this wine remains unchanged; its versatility from morning to night, with or without accompaniments, stands out. Its balance is its hallmark - perfectly sweet yet offset by acidity, with seamlessly integrated alcohol. Long, multilayered and simply delicious.
This charmer packs a punch with a medley of sweet spices, dried dates, brown sugar, maple syrup, mushrooms, and a damp cellar ambiance. It's a complex, complete, and generous brew, teetering on the edge of perfect balance鈥攁lbeit, could use a dash more freshness. Round with a lingering character, it's a delectable ordeal, testing the bounds of objectivity.
Pairing this Boal with stracciatella was like setting off fireworks in a library - inappropriate yet mind-blowing (just like the messages I've sent to a friend). This Madeira isn't just godly; it's the Zeus of sweetness with a resume to die for. Its aromatic arsenal packs sweet spices, dried berries, maple syrup, brown sugar, date fruit, and a dash of dust. It's like a sweet symphony with a balance that鈥檚 near perfection. It's sweet, but not too much; the alcohol's there, but it's soft-spoken, and the freshness makes it a solo act worth every sip. Complex yet friendly. Rating this is like trying to nail jelly to a wall, my emotions are rioting.
Incredible Madeira wine. An elegant bouquet: sweet spices, dried berries, maple syrup, brown sugar, date fruit, and dust. Almost perfectly balanced, it is not overly sweet, the alcohol is soft, and its freshness makes it a pleasant drink on its own. Complex yet friendly. I like to serve it slightly chilled. And it's my favourite starter of the day.
Wonderful Madeira that easily makes you fall in love with this style. Deep dark amber colour. Intense bouquet with classical notes: raisins, date fruit, maple syrup and spices. Friendly with nice freshness and good balance, very long and flavourful aftertaste - date fruit, walnut and maple syrup.
Beautiful and rich Madeira. Perfectly balanced.
