After so many demanding white wines, I figured it would be nice to switch to something red. Though I didn't want to make things simple. Obviously, the most controversial wine of the evening. I dislike all this spiritual mumbo-jumbo around. I know I am biased. So every bottle of Mercandelli's wine is a path from irritation to actual enjoyment. At some point, I just realise that… I like it. Regardless of annoying stories.
There is little fruit. It's more about underbrush, blood, extra iron, pickles, medicinal herbs (maybe even a cough syrup) and mushrooms. Still alive! Still kicks in. The tannin still feels pretty young (is it because of absurdly long maceration?). The acidity is still good. Wow, and it's 2006. Incredible evolution in glass. Demanding and complex wine. Would I buy it? No. Would I taste it again? With pleasure.

A great wine realizes the taste of an experience not an experience of taste.
