Oh, here comes one more beauty. Intense bouquet of yellow apples, white plums, lemon, sea pebbles, butter, bread and honey. Delicious and well structured with almost perfect balance. The aftertaste is long and flavourful. In addition to the aforementioned descriptors, it has a neat finish of green apricot. Great style.
Ridge Chardonnay hails from a cool, eastern slope on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil. This vintage was cooler than usual, so the harvest commenced on the 3rd of March, two weeks later than the previous vintage. Wild fermented, it spent 11 months in barrels, just 25% of them new. 5760 bottles produced.
