Once again, I open this wine—and once again, I tell myself: way too early. And yet, that label pulls me in, the promise of a drinkable Langhe working like a love potion. But reality, as always, delivers a firm slap.
Still, there’s beauty here: rose petals, sour cherry, rosehip, earth, wood, and a touch of jelly candy. It’s tightly wound, with powerful tannins—absolutely needs decanting if you want even a glimpse of that lightness of being we might dare call bearable.
This is the price of impatience. But the wine? It’s brilliant.
Same notes as before. This wine gorgeous, packed, but needs more time in bottle.
This Langhe is both stylish and enticingly youthful. The nose is a dream, filled with rose petals, sour cherry, briar, earthy notes, woody herbs, and a hint of marmalade. On the palate, it is fresh and well-structured, with a slightly tight feel and powdery tannins. Captivating flavours of briar, damp earth, mushrooms, a touch of tar, and fennel. It's delightful now, but clearly, it will benefit from more time in the cellar to truly shine.
