Tasting Notes
This bottle was more intriguing than I remembered, possibly the best example of Blossom I've tasted yet. However, it does seem slightly more oxidized than expected. The nose reveals complex layers of orange, herbs, a touch of VA, nuts, and tropical notes. On the palate, it's fresh and neat, with dry tannins complementing flavors of bruised apples and bubblegum.
A basic nose with overripe apricots and a herbal, medicinal underpinning. There's a curious twist of aromas, but the palate doesn't follow through - feeling sanitized, lacking depth and vibrancy. It's a wine that comes across as bright yet hollow, which was a letdown upon discovering it was a Matassa. Blind tasting strips away biases, underscoring the importance of an unprejudiced approach.
