Remembering my previous experience with Contrada Monte Serra, I was curious to taste it again to figure out what was amiss the last time. A bit restrained bouquet of dried red fruits, dust, raw meat and red flowers. The mouthfeel is juicy, fresh and delicious. Tannin is well-integrated and a bit grippy. Due to the relative heaviness and age, the palate feels tired. The bouquet is not convincing and overly shy. Overall, it's a good wine with a few disappointing nuances.
One more top Etna producer, but the result is flat. At least this wine is ready to be consumed today, unlike other wines of the evening. Overripe red fruits, raw meat and red flowers. Round, soft and elegant. But something is amiss in the palate. Still good.
