Tasting Notes
This wine initially presents itself like a wild beast, galloping on sweaty horses and feasting on Nordic berries for breakfast, a nod to its assertive VA before decanting. It's as if it strides through the wilderness, untamed and bold, making a powerful statement with every sniff and sip.
Yet, much like the archetypal tough man who's all business at work but a gentle soul at home, this wine reveals its softer side once given the chance to breathe. Its complexities unfold, showing a beautiful bouquet of ripe red fruits, milk chocolate filled with dried blueberries, the earthy essence of a wet autumn forest, and a hint of red flowers and cloves. On the palate, it's silky and round, yet undeniably rich in character. The aftertaste is long and flavourful with an interesting touch of pencil lead.
This transformation is a delightful surprise, reminding me why red Jura wines have a special place in my glass.
