Served blind, my initial guess was Chenin Blanc, drawn to its acidity and the aroma reminiscent of aged quince jam. However, the alcohol content led me to consider other regions (turns out I was wrong). I was certain it was an older wine, estimating at least 20 years, but discovering it was 66 years old was astonishing.
The nose was complex and enticing, revealing layers of honey, candied fruits, dried fig, old quince jam, and subtle pine notes. On the palate, it was exceptionally delightful, displaying a well-structured and concentrated profile—not due to sweetness, but to its impeccable balance. The long aftertaste offered hints of minerality and a slight, tingling sensation. Truly outstanding.
