Awww yeah! I'd been saving this gifted bottle for the right BBQ moment - and when the guys suggested heading to a decent-looking grill (shish kebab) spot with a cork fee, I knew it was time.
Drinking it solo is a bit much - it really smacks you over the head - but with grilled lamb, it was spot on. A super bold and sweet bouquet bursting with jam, cola, liquorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, it's big and round - none of that confusing acidity, no quirky tannins, just loud and clear.
Not my style, not something I'd usually go for, but in that moment? Pure joy.
Ah, infamous biodynamic wine. Some love it for being straightforward and approachable. Some hate it for how simple, popular and pricey it is. Kurni is powerful and bright. Lots of black fruits, jam, liquorice root, chocolate, sweet tobacco. This sweetness flows from aroma to the taste, it's almost like drinking sweet medicine made from liquorice root. Silky tannins, and very long aftertaste. Definitely well made wine. Few years ago I would fell in love, but now it seems boring.
