Continuing our journey through Burgundy with a focus on Côte de Nuits, this piece reflects on an exclusive tasting event, led by Maksym's insightful lecture.
Our exploration of Burgundy's treasures takes a focused turn towards its heartland, the Côte-d'Or, as we delve into the crème de la crème of this celebrated wine region. Having savoured the broader tastes of Burgundy, it's time to narrow our voyage to the renowned Côte de Nuits. Our journey is simple yet delicious: starting from the north and making our way south, we aim to sample the defining wines from its principal communes.
This article doesn't aspire to replicate the depth of a mini-course on Burgundy, but rather shares highlights from a tasting event that was rich both in flavours and knowledge. Maksym, our guide for the evening, shared a wealth of information, and while we didn't set out to capture every detail in writing, the experience itself was illuminating. For those thirsting for more, remember the internet is brimming with resources on the topic. Better yet, why not join us for future tastings? This particular journey through Burgundy is one we plan to revisit.
So, with heartfelt thanks to Maksym for an enlightening lecture-tasting, to the team at 101 Bar for their delicious support, to Goodwine for providing the perfect venue, and to all participants for a splendid evening that fittingly ended with the enjoyment of Madeira, let's continue the discovery of Burgundy's finest.

This wine exudes elegance through its subtle bouquet, which beautifully combines wild strawberries, red flowers, the essence of a damp forest floor, and hints of raw meat. With a medium-light body, it offers a velvety and juicy texture that is well-balanced, enhancing its overall drinkability. The aftertaste is pleasantly long and marked by seductive fruit notes, making it a delightful experience. The wine might not be as deep as some might prefer, and there's a slight wateriness to its texture, but despite these minor drawbacks, its charm and elegance make it a captivating choice.

This wine offers a beautiful bouquet, melding wet earth, dark fruits, blackberry, mulberry, roasted coffee, and crushed berries into a captivating composition. The slightly perfumed nature adds an intriguing layer, especially given the dominance of earthy notes, creating a unique, appealing and friendly aromatic profile.
Its structure is impressive, supported by good acidity, a notable evolution on the palate, and a long aftertaste. This wine secured the 🏅 4th place in our wine tasting lineup.
A beautifully perfumed bouquet that elegantly combines dry earth, red flowers, pines, and a selection of spices including rosemary, alongside nuances of cured meats and a hint of raspberry, all underlined by the scent of autumn leaves. The palate is delicate yet carries a bit of spice, even presenting a stingy character that adds to its complexity. With good acidity and a juicy profile, it's deliciously engaging.
The lack of overwhelming fruitiness in the nose pairs wonderfully with a more fruit-forward palate, creating a pleasing contrast that enhances the overall tasting experience. Subtle and complex.

This wine secured the 🏅 5th place in our wine tasting lineup.
This wine showcases an opulent bouquet dominated by black fruits, liquorice, and cola candy, complemented by an undercurrent of spices. The palate is jammy and viscous, providing a rich and enveloping tasting experience. The aftertaste is notably long, leaving a lasting impression. While it may not align perfectly with my personal preferences, the wine's deliciousness and balance are undeniable. Notes of black wild cherry add a final touch of complexity, rounding out a profile that's both luxurious and engaging.
